Reedsburg Area Ambulance Service Commission Meeting, January 19, 2022

The meeting began with call to order, approval of the minutes from the November 9th meeting, and approval of the financial statements from November and December.

There was no public comment.

Director Kowalke explained the details of the current Inter-Municipal Ambulance Agreement which had been circulated prior to the meeting.  Much discussion followed.  The Agreement will be sent to all the municipalities for approval and signatures before it can go into effect.

There was discussion on the current bylaws of the Commission and following discussion it was decided to work on the bylaws after the Inter-Municipal Ambulance Agreement has been signed.

Director Kowalke explained the background and history of the current location and increasing needs of the Ambulance Service.  He also explained the Building Design Proposal by ADCI for a two-story addition to be built on the fifty feet of land that was purchased last year from the DNR to the west of the current location.  The Commission voted to approve the proposal and continue moving forward.

A new meeting date and time were discussed and it was decided that the fourth Tuesday night of every other month, the odd months of the year, at 7pm would be the most optimal time and date for all municipalities involved.  The next meeting date was set for Tuesday, March 22nd at 7pm.

Director Kowalke provided a Covid funding update and stated that the Ambulance Service received some rural funding that they did not even have to apply for.

Director Kowalke gave his monthly report and noted that there were two new EMT hires.  He has been working on the 2022 donation mass mailing and the annual bowling tournament fundraiser will return this year after being on hiatus last year due to Covid.  It is scheduled for February 11th and 12th, 2022.  He also completed the annual report for the calendar year 2021.

The meeting closed with adjournment.

Respectfully submitted,

Rebecca M. Klitzke
